Francis JIFON, Geophysicist

Geophysicist with 33 years’ experience in service at the National Hydrocarbons Corporation (SNH), Yaoundé, Cameroon retired on July 1st, 2020 while occupying the position of Deputy Manager of the Petroleum Information Center, SNH since July 2010 in which Mr. JIFON supervised the secure management, quality enhancement, and provision of Cameroons E&P data to the petroleum industry.

Was a member of several committees and ad-hoc SNH project teams notably that promoting available petroleum data and information on free blocks in the Mining Property of the State; the Standing Committee for Negotiation of Petroleum Contracts since 2007 (21 Contracts, 1 Gas Agreement); the elaboration of the 2019 Petroleum Code with investment incentives, enabling text, and Model Contracts; and the SNH Internal Tenders’ Board since 2018 to retirement.

Between 1993 and 2010, he headed the Operations and Geosciences Departments, the Geology/Geophysics, Basin Studies, Exploitation and Production Services respectively. Co-published two main papers, and gave presentations on available E&P data and Terms of Reference for Block Licensing Rounds or Promotion events. He received 4 distinctive awards and several recognitions.
